Well 2013 has been something else so far, there’s been some great moments and some really hard moments.
We’ve lost 2 very great people in our lives so tragically, it hits home when they’re your own family and makes you realize just how precious every moment in life is. You open your eyes and think of all the times you’ve put off spending time with loved ones and passed on the moments to capture those moments in photos for you all to cherish for a lifetime.
I know myself as a photographer I’m the last to be in photos including with my own family. I look back at years of photos I have taken and there’s literally only a handful of me with my husband and our children. 98% of our photos are of just our children or my husband with our children, there’s only a few of me with our children and even less of my husband and I. I think in the 16 yrs we’ve been together, there’s maybe 20-30 photos at the very most of us together in a photo… what I can find on hand is even less than that.
I want to change that, I want to take that step and put myself in front of the camera with my family and friends. I want to have those photos to cherish, I want to have those moments captured for not only myself but for my loved ones. I want to live my life to the fullest and laugh as hard as I can, love as much as I can. I want others to do the same and not have any regrets.
I want to turn 2013 around and make the most of it, encourage as many people as I can to do the same.
Right now… I spend as much time as I can with my husband and our children. Right now I’m going to hug my children and kiss them good night as I tuck them in bed. Right now… I hope you’re able to do the same.
Much love, Katrina
I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
However you choose to spend your holidays, I hope you are happy! Being happy is what is most important these days, if you’re not happy then it’s time for a change and only you can make that change happen. Hope you receive all that you hoped and wished for, I know myself… I have everything I ever hoped and wished for, I have my family!
Although we are all celebrating our holidays with our loved ones, please remember all the families who are grieving the loss of their children and loved ones in the tragic event that has taken place this month. I don’t want to go into more details as this is now a healing process for all these families and every single person all over the world that was affected by this.
This is the first Christmas without my Grandpa who passed away at the beginning of January 2012. He was an amazing man who was always full of Christmas spirit. It was a difficult Christmas for us last year as he was very ill, we are at peace this Christmas knowing he’s not suffering and is still watching over us with loved ones… including my sons Nickolas and Xavier. We’ll do our best to celebrate Christmas as he would want us to, keeping his Christmas spirit alive and spreading it to as many people as we can!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from my family!
I held a small auction for a family session early this summer, Helen was the lucky winner of this session. We found a date that worked for everyone so that we could all get together down at Bellevue Park. We started the session out on Topsail Island, made our way back to play area at the park and finished the session off over in the garden area near the fountains.
This family is not only a gorgeous family but so fun and so loving. We had a great time at the session, shared some stories and many laughs. They were not afraid to have fun and be silly, that’s what made this session go by so quickly. Before we knew it… it was almost 9 pm and we were there for almost 2 hrs. I had so much fun editing these photos, brought me back to being in that moment and trying to hold my camera still while laughing.

In Aug, 2012 Mandi and I had the honour of photographing the wedding of Stephanie and Lucas. We started out the morning on the golf course with the groomsmen, friends and family golfing. We had many laughs, they weren’t afraid to have fun even in front of the camera. We knew that we were going to have a great time photographing the wedding later on.
Mandi and I arrived at the Water Tower Inn where the Bride-to-be Stephanie was getting ready with her bridesmaids and her daughters. The all looked stunning, Stephanie… gorgeous! We made our way downstairs where the ceremony took place, we made our way outside so we could do our photos out around the fountains. We spent quite a bit of time stopping and laughing, the guys weren’t afraid to try to steal the girls moment by doing something to attract attention.
The rest of the wedding went great, many laughs, tears, paper airplanes flying through the air… yes paper airplanes.

Wedding season is over (unless someone books last min) and we’re now in fall sessions. The only downfall to fall sessions, trying to get them in while the colours are still there and it’s not pouring rain!
I was able to upload some photos from the Aug. wedding onto Facebook, head over there to check them out for now until I update here.
I’m always on Facebook, always updating posts so if you feel like checking out what is going on or even just stopping in to say “Hi”… head over to the fan page to visit.
I didn’t just slack for awhile, I completely fell off my blog updating!! I have been updating Facebook often (a hint to come join us there
), but have totally slacked on uploading photos :S
Over the past few mths things have been pretty hectic around here! Between having both my kids home for the summer all day with me, I wasn’t able to get much work done during the day. I’d get into editing and after 5 min. I’m being pulled away from the computer to break up a fight between my kids. I would wait until they went to bed to get some editing done but by then I’m exhausted. There were a few nights where it took me hrs of sitting here editing to get even some of the photos done because I would start going cross eyed and feel my head start getting heavy.
During this time I have also been having some health issues that has pulled me away for a bit along with sessions and weddings. I’ve been a busy woman barely stopping to sleep at times it seems. The kids are back in school and to say I’m on the mend is a big stretch! I had injections for my back a week ago and I’m still hurting, more because the weather is changing and along with that comes the body aches/pains. I haven’t had a nice day yet where my body can full recover from the injections, PLUS thanks to my lovely chair (being completely sarcastic here) that I’ve had for oh… 5 yrs now… my hips are killing me!!
This chair, it’s been through a lot in the past 5 yrs and a few different addresses (3 to be exact!). It still works great and looks like it’s still in great shape… until you sit in it! There’s not cushion feeling under your butt anymore, it’s almost like sitting on the floor. I sit here for hrs each day and because of that, my hips are taking a tole and causing pain. I’ve had to resort to putting a pillow under my butt (which is strange for me since I have enough padding on my butt as it is lol) just so I can sit here longer. I literally had to shut my computer down last night to keep me from sitting here, to give me a break… or I should say my butt/hips/back a break from this chair. Needless to say…. I NEED A NEW CHAIR!!! lol now it’s just the point of finding a new one!
The busy season is far from over, have another wedding in 1 1/2 wks and sessions coming up for fall photos now that the leaves are changing colours. I love this time of year for that only!!
Once I’m fully caught up on everything I promise to start uploading photos here but while you’re waiting, feel free to join us over at Facebook on the fan page to see anything that is going on and any photos that I do get a chance to upload.
Take care, don’t be afraid to stop by and chat!!

I swear I’m completely slacking on updating the blog, have even slacked on the website. Have at least kept Facebook up to date… for the most part!
It’s been a busy crazy month, family session followed by a wedding last weekend followed by a family session the next day. Between shooting, editing, running my household, caring for my kids, appoint. and so much more… not much ‘me’ time. Caught up on editing sessions and 1/4 of the way through the wedding photos, spend more time away from the computer while my kids are up than I do sitting at the computer working.
Not going to slow down much for me as I have a session coming up next week, another wedding next month, 2 weddings in Sept…. busy busy busy!!!
Will do my best to get caught up on here… eventually!

Been a busy few days with my kids and enjoying the both the Canadian and America fireworks, one of the reasons I love being a border city.
Kids had a great time watching (as did us adults), completely forgot to lower my ISO back down after taking a few photos of the kids playing with the sparklers. When it came to fireworks time… needless to say they didn’t come out so great for the Canadian July 1st fireworks photos. I remember before they started for the American July 4th fireworks and I’m very happy with them. Below you will see a few of the kids playing on July 1st and the fireworks from the 4th

Wishing my fellow Canadians a Happy Canada Day! Hope you all have a wonderful day spending it with your loved ones being safe!
My husband, our children and I are going to enjoy it to the fullest and end it by going to the fireworks with Mandi (assistant/second photographer) and her children. We both will be bringing our cameras so yes there will be photos of the fireworks to be posted. For now I leave you with a photo of the Canadian flag that I took the other day while I was out for a walk.
